Can I use my own suitcases or bags for storage?
Yes all suitcases and bags should have attached handles with fully operating zips or fasteners and when packed should not weigh more than 25kg.
How can I ensure all my belongings are packed with the packing service?
We ask you in advance for as much information as possible – what items belong to you and what belongs to the University etc.
We also arrange a time for a 10 minute video call between you and the team when they arrive at your room.
You can direct to the team with what exactly you would like packed.
Finally, we will take pictures of the room before and after to send to you for your record.
Where do you store my belongings?
In a modern, secure and purpose built storage facility with 24/7 security and CCTV cameras.
How do you transport my belongings?
Either via one of the vans from our fleet or with a trusted third party. All vehicles and third parties are fully insured for the transportation of customers’ property.
What about storage and shipping insurance?
All vehicles have Goods in Transit Insurance up to £20,000. Each item is insured up to £100 whilst in storage. If you have more valuable items then you can request to extend this to £500 for £1.50 per item and can be selected during checkout. Please check your own home insurance for more valuable items.
How can I pay for storage?
We make it as easy as possible for you to pay. We accept all major credit and debit cards including Visa, Mastercard and American Express through our secure online booking system. In addition, we also accept payment via a BACS transfer.
Can I use an international credit card?
Yes of course! If booking through our website when you reach the payment page you can input your details here all major credit cards are accepted.
If you have a bespoke quote we will invoice you with a link to pay on our online forum which also accepts international credit cards!
What packing materials do you provide?
All our orders receive 5m of bubble wrap, 66m of Student Storage Experts’ printed tape and tamper-proof labels.
Can I store and ship bikes and other bulky items?
I don't know where I'll be living next year, can I still book storage?
Absolutely. Make your storage booking and tell us your return address later on when you have more info.
Will my boxes be opened?
Robust tape is provided to secure your boxes and labels are supplied that should be placed across the opening end of your boxes. Padlocks should not be applied to suitcases unless a key is available and accessible. Tape and labels can be applied to opening seams of cases. We pride ourselves on our totally trustworthy service. However very rarely we may need to open boxes due to weight, safety or security issues. Please see our T&Cs for full details on when this may happen. Customers will always be informed that this has happened.
What can I store and ship?
Just about anything that can be stored in a box providing it is a non-liquid, non-edible, non-biodegradable, and safe and legal. We have a list of specific items that can be stored and you can request a quote for other items that are not shown. See our T&Cs for a full breakdown.
What is your minimum storage period?
One month. You can request your items to be returned within that time but you have to book a month initially.
How long can I store for?
For as long as you need us to. If you need to store longer than 4 months then extra discounts can be applied. Please email or call us to apply discounts.
Can I use different addresses?
Yes, just specify the addresses when making your booking. If things change then just let us know. Costs may be incurred if the new address is not in the original town or city post code area.
What if I don't know my return date?
That’s ok, we understand plans can be up in the air and travel plans change. Just select the closest date as an estimation for your return.
If we have plenty of notice we can amend the date for you.
